Description

You are the narrator of a story no one wrote.

In s[TOR-Y]telling: Closed Loop, a large language model plays every character and improvises the entire story in response to whatever the player does. There is no script and no rails. Talk your way out of a Yakuza interrogation by insisting you're Santa Claus. Adopt a mischievous cat. Challenge a berserker barbarian to a bake-off. Whatever you throw at the cast, the AI continues — in character.

Then invite company. Stage ensembles of up to nine s[TOR-Y]s who reply to the player and to each other. Play online in Party Mode (every player their own inhabitant of the scene) or Free Mode (rival events, table votes, winner drives), with full cross-play between Windows, Linux, and Mac. Streaming? The Twitch and YouTube audience plays along with !story. Create new characters from a one-line concept. And all along, the sandbox is quietly feeding a hand-authored visual-novel campaign: your interactions drive which paths open — that's the Closed Loop.

The first genuinely fun consumer showcase for local AI — a polished "it just works" product for the thing the local-LLM community already loves doing by hand.

Free local AI. Optional Cloud AI.

Local AI runs on your compatible GPU with no usage fees and supports offline single-player.

Cloud AI is optional: choose a hosted model and use credits, with credit packs available through Steam. Cloud mode requires an internet connection.

Local AI generation stays on your device. In Cloud mode, prompts and relevant conversation context are sent to external AI providers for generation and content safety checks.

The game in five clips

Muted loops, captured in-game. Right-click any clip to save it — all footage is real gameplay: every AI line was generated by the game itself.

Multi-s[TOR-Y] ensembles. Up to nine characters in one scene, answering the player and each other; the player directs who replies, in what order.
Party Mode (online). Every player is their own inhabitant of the scene, taking turns around the table.
Free Mode (online). Players propose rival events for the same turn; the table votes; the winner drives the scene.
Live audience. Twitch & YouTube viewers send !story events straight into the scene — the cast answers them like any other player.
AI-assisted creation. One line of concept in, a full playable character out — plus a tailored image prompt for any external image tool.

System requirements — the short version

Multiplayer guests do not run the AI model. For local AI on Windows or Linux, use a compatible GPU with at least 12 GB VRAM; local AI on Mac requires compatible Apple Silicon hardware. Optional Cloud AI supports single-player and hosting without running the local model: it requires internet and credits instead of the local model's GPU memory. See the Steam system requirements for full details.

Coverage & monetization

You are welcome to publish and monetize videos, streams, and screenshots of s[TOR-Y]telling: Closed Loop on any platform — no permission needed, and this page's assets are provided for exactly that. The demo is free and has no key gate, so you can cover it today; full-game review keys are available around launch via press@curiousbiped.com or Keymailer.

The game includes content safety checks for local AI and Cloud AI. Cloud mode also uses server-side checks. Mature themes are disclosed on Steam (ClassInd 16 / Germany 18+).
